Compatability Issues
Searching to install a version of Linux on my computer I'm wondering what will best suit my needs. I'm debating between Red Hat, Slackware, and OpenBSD. What will work with my geforce 4 graphics card, canon printer, and sb live creative sound card best. I also have a creative DVD drive i use for svideo out to watch movies with.

I'm a Computer Engineering student with a need for stability but still want to be able to play my movies and music when i'm not sleep-deprived from programming assignments.

You might spend some time checking out the hardware compatability lists for the distribution(s) you are interested in. The main sites for each distribution have links to information about the hardware that is supported. Another good source of info is any ongoing discussions at the site; these are likely to contain recent info that may be relevant to your questions.

Hope this helps.

Your printer could be a problem, my cannon is a win printer, not a hard ware printer. Research it before installing .
Also suggest looking into Xandros and Lycoris desk top LX, there more for use than some other linux distro's
Have fun !!
