Did it not work through Add or Remove Programs?

You could also try the Revo Uninstaller: http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_..._download.html

Prior post was in error, please excuse.

Actually, after using the revouninstaller I still have the AVG toolbar.

When I went into add and remove programs I went to try again to uninstall the whole thing. Then it gave me an error message OxCOO7O643. It said it appeared to be uninstalled, it asked if I wanted to remove it, and I said OK.

I have the AVG setup on Administrators page and I can't even delete that.

Have you tried using Revo to completely uninstall AVG? Then redownload AVG and reinstall it.

I remember when I used AVG, I had a difficult time removing the program but Revo took care of it. I then switched to Microsoft Security Essentials.

The AVG program is no longer listed on revouninstaller. I'd like to uninstall it totally and stop using AVG all together and try a different one. It does not show on Task Manager yet this toolbar lives on.

Note: There is still a listing on HiJack this O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AVG_TRAY] C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG10\avgtray.exe

There's also a toolbar O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {CCC7A320-B3CA-4199-B1A6-9F516DD69829} - (no file). I'm afraid to delete either one.

After uninstalling AVG and still having toolbar. I reinstalled it, uncheck the boxes that deal with the toolbar. I had hoped that it would overwrite or something the toolbar and remove it.

Oh, yes. It seems to be getting worse. It or something has hidden the AVG toolbar times hides the AVG tool bar menu and has hidden the Google box entirely. My screen also changed and I could only use some Wikipedia site finder, any toolbar was no longer on the page. Had to open a new Firefox. I don't know where AVG or their partner has hidden this in files or whatever.

It seems something will come up on the internet about a removal. I can't be the only one having this problem. If AVG had stopped having a free edition. I could have chosen accordingly. This toolbar is underhanded

Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 1
Link 2

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools

    • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
    • Remember to re-enable the protection again afterwards before connecting to the Internet.
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.
