I ignored a warning for a certain site that was said to be potentially harmful. Yay! I got a Trojan virus. It caused ALL of my icons except for the recycle bin to disappear and all my photos, videos etc were "gone". I went to a restore point I had made the previous day and used it. It worked, but my media was still gone, it didn't show up in a search either. So I went to Control Panel+Appearance and Personalization+Folder Options+View.

Once there, "go to hidden files and folders", click "show hidden files and folders" and voila! If they are opaque (see through) simply right click the item, in the "general" tab, look at the bottom and click "hidden" if it is checked, and there ya go! Hope that helps
