| Running Windows XP Problem reported after running Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security 2012 The problem is reported EVERY time a scan completes, leaving me with this message: Scan Results: Additional Cleaning Needed. To remove some unresolved threats click "Download Now" to start setting up a rescue disk. I've had NO luck getting the rescue disk to work the way they Trend instructions say it should, i.e. to give me an option to "resolve threats" after booting from the disk. I've searched the internet for help on that, joined the Trend Micro user's community, followed everyone's suggestions, no luck yet. Now my computer is running slower and slower, and sometimes freezes. It also does other strange things like booting up ok but not allowing me to open any applications and forcing me to do a cold boot to get it going. It also changed the time on the clock! ALSO....I booted up in safe mode hoping to run a Trend Internet Security 2012 scan, but the Trend icon in safe mode is directed to an old (2006!) install of Trend. I couldn't see how to run 2012 there. Below are the things the "Read this first" post suggested. One problem, however: The instructions mention an ark.text file, but I don't seem to see one created by the steps in the instructions. I have pasted below the hijackthis log, the dds.txt file, and have attached the attach.txt file as instructed. I also pasted below the results of the GMER exe.rootkit/malware report page. | My problems are still there. I hope someone can help. |

| Hi Thepcjanitor, my name is Mark and I will be helping you. The logs indicate you have a Rootkit infection, please follow the instructions below. The ark.txt file is the one you have posted for GMER, the instructions tell you to save it with that name, as you didn't do that, that is why you could not find it. Please follow the instructions exactly as written, deviating from the instructions and trying to fix anything before I have seen the logs may make your PC unbootable. If TDSSKiller does not offer the Cure option DO NOT select delete as you may remove files needed for the system to operate. Please download Kaspersky's TDSSKiller and save it to your Desktop. <-Important! -- The tool is frequently updated...if you used TDSSKiller before, delete that version and download the most current one before using again. Be sure to print out and follow the instructions for performing a scan.

| Thanks, Mark. I'm out of town and don't have my laptop with me. I will follow up on your instructions later today or tomorrow. |

| Three days later and still no response so I am now marking this thread as resolved. If you do wish to continue then please post back and let me know. My spare time is limited for dealing with Malware problems so I will only subscribe to a certain number of threads at any one time to be sure I have sufficient time available to analyse logs without having to rush or delay my replies. All the time that I am waiting for replies is time I could be using to help someone else. |
