Yea I guess it is so fast because it is only looking for one thing and knows where it would be if you had it.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE VX2 PLUGIN
--------------------------------------------------------
* 8 of the 9 new VX2 variants have the same payload: a
DLL file which resists removal. This DLL is different
than what our original VX2 Cleaner plug-in was designed
to locate and remove. The plug-in has been updated
accordingly to allow for removal of this update. The
new version number is 1.01, and can be verified after
running the plug-in. If you have downloaded version
1.00 of the plug-in, you do not need to uninstall prior
to installing this version. Download using the plug-in
download link on our site (in the first post of this thread). For more information, visit
http://www.lavasoft.de/software/plug...2cleaner.shtml

Do you think that all Ad-Aware users should get this new plug even if there is no infection?

Thank you

Red face Tried it on a 98Se
I tried the new plug-in several times. Each time it came up clean. Now, however, I can update CWShredder with no problems. The smartkiller had also come back negative. I only had 1 problem with the new pugin. After I ran it, I shut Adaware down. It gave me

AD-AWARE caused an invalid page fault in
module <unknown> at 0000:00000000.

and followed with a 216 (?) runtime error. When I closed that box, the "invalid page fault" happened again followed by the runtime error. I had to shut the error down through my task manager. It closed after about 10 displays. Right now the computer works well, CWShredder is now updating, seems good.

Tried the new plug-in on an infected computer that couldn't be cleaned any other way. It worked just fine.

Thanks for the information and the ability to continue to remove all this stuff. Way worse than viruses ever were.

I am curious about one thing. This might be a foolish question but what the heck.

Does the VX2 update only by itself are will it update when you update Adware itself?

The plugin updates have to be downloaded and installed seperately Deke.
