I want you to find the C:\WINDOWS\isrvs folder and the c:\windows\system32\syplsx.exe file and put them in a zipped folder. Attach a copy of that zipped folder and send it to me here. Please include a link to this thread so I'll remember where it came from.

I need those so I can try to figure out what is reinstalling them.

I forgot to add that they may be hidden so go to Start > Search and under "More advanced search options".
Make sure there is a check by "Search System Folders" and "Search hidden files and folders" and "Search system subfolders"

Next click on My Computer. Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and "Hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
Click "Apply" then "OK"

You should be able to find them then.

I have found out a little more about this. Do a file search for delprot.sys and edmond.exe. Let me know if you find those files and where.

Hi Flrman1 ,
I found c:\windows\system32\delprot.sys but not edmond.exe. Thanks for continuing to hang with me on this!

I left out part of the path of delprot.sys. It should be c:\windows\system32\drivers\delprot.sys. Sorry!

I am attaching a isearch.zip file to this post. Download it and save it to your desktop.

Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Now put a tick by Delete on Reboot. In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste each of the following lines one at a time then click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter each file. It will ask for confimation to delete the file on next reboot. Click Yes. It will then ask if you want to reboot now. Click No. Continue with that same procedure until you have copied and pasted all of these in the "Paste Full Path of File to Delete" box.

C:\WINDOWS\systb.dll

C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\desktop.exe

C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\ffisearch.exe

C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\edmond.exe

c:\windows\system32\syplsx.exe

c:\windows\system32\drivers\delprot.sys

Exit the Killbox.

Note: It is possible that Killbox will tell you that one or more files do not exist. If that happens, just continue on with all the files. Be sure you don't miss any.

Now doubleclick on the isearch.reg file to add it to the registry. Answer Yes to confirm.

Now restart your computer

Come back here and post another Hijack This log.

Hi Flrman1 ,
Below is the log. I note that a couple of out tenacious friends are still there. I think I carried out the instructions correctly, but maybe I made a mistake. Should I redo the whole thing? Thanks again for your persistence in this endeavor!

Well that didn't work for some reason. I really need to do a test infection here to see if I can nail down a way to fix this one, but I just haven't had time yet.

I would like to see if you have a service running that HJT isn't showing. Please do this:

Click here to download getservice.zip and unzip it to your desktop. Open the Getservice folder and click on the getservices.bat file. A notepad will open up with a long list of Services. Please save that notepad file and attach it to your next reply to this thread. It will be easier to attach it rather than copy and paste because it will be too long to paste in one post.

Hi Flrman1 ,
If I've got this attachment technique right, here is the file you requested. Thanks as always.

I haven't forgotten about you. There is nothing in the service list.

We are still working on a fix for this. I hope to have more info today.

Thanks for your reply, Flrman1. Appreciate your continuing effort on this! As I mentioned previously, you have already treated the symptoms of the disease so that I no longer have the bogus offeroptimizer urls in my Internet open site list. But the disease may be lying dormant, waiting for an opportune moment to strike again! There is no rush. I know you must be working on many other threads. Have a great day. Addnovice
