| Thanks for a speedy a reply. I was able to remove P2P Networking after uninstalling kazaa. I was also able to download and install Ewido. I followed your isntructions above but when i tried to run ewido in safe mode for complete scanning, i observed that although ewido was scanning as the display said, but the number of scanned items and the scannning progress indicator was not increasing. I repeated the scannning process at safe mode after restarting but the ewido scanning looked like its always hanging so i just cancelled the scanning procedure. i booted to normal mode then run HJT and the following is the HJT report: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 8:55:29 PM, on 9/18/2005 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SNDSrvc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SPBBC\SPBBCSvc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\PackethSvc.exe C:\Program Files\ewido\security suite\ewidoctrl.exe C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\navapsvc.exe C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\IWP\NPFMntor.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\snmp.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\CCPD-LC\symlcsvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\atiptaxx.exe C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPLpr.exe C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPEnh.exe C:\Program Files\Compaq\EAB\EabServr.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\EXSHOW95.EXE C:\WINDOWS\vsnpmi03.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nokia\Tools\NclTray.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\PCSuite\DataLayer\DataLayer.exe C:\Program Files\Startup Mechanic\StartupMonitor.exe C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\Distillr\AcroTray.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Works Shared\wkcalrem.exe C:\Program Files\Nokia\PC Suite for Nokia 6600\connmngmntbox.exe C:\Program Files\Nokia\PC Suite for Nokia 6600\ectaskscheduler.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\EXSHOW.EXE C:\Program Files\Microsoft Encarta\Encarta Reference Library 2004\EDICT.EXE C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\1033\msoffice.exe C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\PCSuite\Services\SERVIC~1.EXE C:\PROGRA~1\Nokia\PCSUIT~1\Elogerr.exe C:\Program Files\Intuwave\Shared\mRouterRunTime\mRouterRuntime.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Nokia\PCSUIT~1\BROADC~1.EXE C:\PROGRA~1\Nokia\PCSUIT~1\SCRFS.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuauclt.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe C:\Program Files\HighjackThis\HijackThis.exe R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://store.presario.net/scripts/re...c=1c02&lc=0409 R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://rd.yahoo.com/customize/yessen.../www.yahoo.com R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://rd.yahoo.com/customize/yessen...search/ie.html R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://store.presario.net/scripts/re...c=1c02&lc=0409 R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Window Title = Microsoft Internet Explorer provided by Compaq O2 - BHO: AcroIEHlprObj Class - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\Reader\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.ocx O2 - BHO: Need2Find Bar BHO - {4D1C4E81-A32A-416b-BCDB-33B3EF3617D3} - blank (file missing) O2 - BHO: UberButton Class - {5BAB4B5B-68BC-4B02-94D6-2FC0DE4A7897} - C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Common\yiesrvc.dll O2 - BHO: YahooTaggedBM Class - {65D886A2-7CA7-479B-BB95-14D1EFB7946A} - C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Common\YIeTagBm.dll O2 - BHO: CNavExtBho Class - {BDF3E430-B101-42AD-A544-FADC6B084872} - C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\NavShExt.dll O3 - Toolbar: Norton AntiVirus - {42CDD1BF-3FFB-4238-8AD1-7859DF00B1D6} - C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\NavShExt.dll O3 - Toolbar: Yahoo! | Does this "K" stand for "Kazaa"? |
18-Sep-2005, 11:55 PM
#12 | ||||||
| I thought so. Kazaa is a P2P program, which is notorious for coming bundled with spyware. Not to mention, it's illegal downloads. We don't support P2P use here so it's best that you removed it. Some alternatives to downloading music would be: walmart.com iTunes Napster (although there would be a slight fee per song) |
