Then, I ran windows defender in full system scan mode and here's the log:

Category:
Potentially Unwanted Software

Description:
This program has potentially unwanted behavior.

Advice:
Review the alert details to see why the software was detected. If you do not like how the software operates or if you do not recognize and trust the publisher, consider blocking or removing the software.

Btw, i confimed there's no alerts from avast anymore up till this point ie no new alerts everytime I start internet explorer after fresh startup. Besides, IE loads faster now too. Thus, can i assume the trojan is completely removed now?

Please advise!

ok put these through the killbox as well just to make sure they are all gone! Most should be missing but we never know?

* Restart your computer into safe mode now. Perform the following steps in
safe mode:

Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Now put a tick by Standard File Kill.
In the Full Path of File to Delete box, copy and paste each of the following
lines one at a time then click on the button that has the red circle with the
X in the middle after you enter each file. It will ask for confirmation to
delete the file. Click Yes. Continue with that same procedure until you have
copied and pasted all of these in the Paste Full Path of File to Delete box.

Note: It is possible that Killbox will tell you that one or more files do not
exist. If that happens, just continue on with all the files. Be sure you
don't miss any.

After you have did that you are clean!

You should now turn off system restore to flush out the bad restore points and
then re-enable it and make a new clean restore point.

Here's some free tools to keep you from getting infected in the future.

To stop reinfection get spywareblaster from

http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/downloads.html

get the hosts file from here.Unzip it to a folder!

http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

put it into : or click the mvps bat and it should do it for you!

Windows XP = C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
Windows 2K = C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
Win 98\ME = C:\WINDOWS

ie-spyad.Puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected

when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.

https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/resource.htm

http://www.spywarewarrior.com/uiuc/resource.htm

http://www.winpatrol.com/winpatrol.html

Use spybot's immunize button and use spywareblaster' enable
protection once you update it. you can put spybot's hosts file into
your own and lock it.

I would also suggest switching to Mozilla's firefox browser, it's safer, has
a built in pop up blocker, blocks cookies and adds. Mozilla Thunderbird is also a good
e-mail client.

Another good and free browser is Opera!

Smile I had same Win32:Zlob-BN.[trj ]. Solved already.
I had the same problem on my Windows XP a few days before 9mubz posted the same virus problem.

I learnt of TSG while searching for ways to get rid of that trojan. Luckily I found u guys in time and fixed the problem up using SmitfraudFix.cmd I followed this forum closely. I too have Avast and it detected this trojan.

First I installed SmitfraudFix.cmd and ran it in Normal mode. It didn't want to load. I mean the command prompt appeard and just remained there, doing nothing. Then One of u suggested running it in Safe Mode. I did and it worked. Follwed the few steps and it cured my system in a jiffy.

Everything's fine now. I gotta thank you guys for informally helping me.

One other question. Can I use SmitfraudFix.cmd to clear any other types of viruses, malware, trojans, worms, etc. ?

Should I leave SmitfraudFix.cmd installed permanently in my pc, or I can remove it when I don't need it?

Thanks. Good to join TSG!!!

No, smitfraud is specifically written for smitfraud and all it's variants and is constantly being updated to meet the new threats wether they be called spywarequakt, spyfalcon, or whatever new name is attached to the pest, but they are all desktop hijakcers!

I still don't understand. You mean I should keep Smithfraudfix installed in my pc?
