Hi, I would like to change from McAfee in my Laptop to Norton Internet Security. How and what do I do to make sure there is no conflict with McAfee when I am trying to install Norton? I want to be sure McAfee is completely out of my system, is that possible? How do I get it completely out?

What McAfee products do you have installed and what are the version numbers? Why are you getting rid of McAfee? Instead of Norton, I would get AVG anti-virus and ZoneAlarm firewall (both freeware).

Hi dont get norton i have had nothing but trouble with in i have now moved to AVG

My McAfee Virus Scan is Ver. 4.0 and Personal Firewall 6.1. I am not familiar with AVG or
ZoneAlam. Do you have links? Do I keep McAfee installed or idoes it take the place of the others you mention?

First download the installation programs for AVG Anti Virus Free 7.5 and Free ZoneAlarm, then disconnect from the internet. Uninstall McAfee Virus Scan and Firewall first, then Security Center (if you have it) and reboot. Install ZoneAlarm and AVG, reconnect to the internet and check to see if you have the latest virus definitions for AVG.

What kind of spyware detection programs do you have?

To my knowledge, I don't have any Spyware on this computer. How is the AVG for viruses, Firewalls and spyware? I have had decent luck with Norton, that is why I thought I would install in on the Laptop.

i'm a big time norton/symantec supporter but just the av.

i used nsw years ago and it slowed stuff down too much.

Hi Avg is a good Anti-virus..Zonealarm is a good firewall.
Stantley in post 5 was refering to Spyware detection programs.
Spybot..Ad-Aware two examples...links below.

Is AdAware good or bad? I have it on 2 other computers and run it all the time. I will look into the AVG. Thanks for your help.
