Click Here and download Killbox and save it to your desktop.


Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it.
Put a tick by Delete on Reboot.
In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste the following:

C:\config.sy_


Click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter the file name.
It will ask for confimation to delete the file.
Click Yes.
It will ask if you want to reboot now,
Click Yes.

Note: It is possible that Killbox will tell you that the file does not exist.

If your computer does not restart automatically then please restart it manually.
If you get an error message "PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been Removed by External Process!" message then just restart manually.


After the restart run this: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/IEFIX.htm and let me know if that helps with the web browsing .

Web still not working unfortunately. Just to clarify, I cannot connect to the web with any application (e.g. ie, googleearth, messenger, skype etc) although dialing up and connecting to my ISP seems to be running ok. Web browsing was fine up until after I ran AVG. Any ideas what I should do next?

FYI when I start up and windows loads I get an error message reading 'VsTskmfg Failed to initialize the McPal library" - is this a major problem?

That tells me your anti-virus is not working properly. I would suggest a full uninstall, restart of the machine and reinstall. What version of McAfee are you running?

Thanks Cybertech - reinstalled mcafee and I don't get that error msg anymore. Is there anything else I can do about my connection? Thanks, M

For the network problem you may need to start a thread in the network forum. Post your symptoms.
