• Allow the ActiveX control to install when prompted.
• Click "Click here to scan" to begin the scan.
• Please refrain from using the computer until the scan is finished.

Things still slow?

Things are still very slow at start up, but IE seems to be running faster. It seems that Bit Defender found some trojans -- did it get rid of them (I can't tell from the log)? I'm also getting some random error messages.

Yes it disinfected then deleted them.

Have you ever used msconfig to disable items from Startup?

No, but I'm up for trying. I know there are some things that don't need to be loading up in start up.

Go to START - RUN
Type in msconfig
Click OK
Go to the tab Startup
From there, you can uncheck any unnecessary items running at startup.
The best to look up the processes are these sites:
http://www.castlecops.com/StartupList.html
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/
It will tell you what the process is, and if its necessary to run at startup
From there you can uncheck these items
Then click Apply, OK
You will be prompted to restart your computer

Note: Once it boots up, you may see a box that says you are in Selective Startup now. This is normal. Just check the box to not remind you again

I unchecked all of the unnecessary items running at startup -- it's running a bit faster, but still is slow, and IE starts up slow as well, but again, not as slow as it used to be.
