Question Firefox: home page changed and won't change back.
Hi, I've recently been searching around the internet for some speed accelerators, etc., and tried a few. The next day I turned on my computer and my firefox loaded with a totally different webpage. This site called turbo-search101.com replaced my regular jpopasia.com/charts. So as anyone would do I'm sure, I opened up the options and changed it back. I clicked the home page button but the same page popped up! I checked my options again and it indeed said turbo-search101.com. So I tried it again. turbo-search101.com popped back up. I checked my antivirus and the "block any home page changes" was on, interestingly enough, the "alert me if an attempt is blocked" as also on. I uninstalled any software i might have downloaded but still came up with the same result.

Help please!

Your need to post a HijackThis v2.0.2 log and then when a member that can read and help you on cleaning the turbo-search101.com can help you out.
So you may have to wait because only those qualified to remove malware can help you.

May want to click on the and ask they move this thread to the Malware Removal & HijackThis Logs forum.

In order to continue using the online scanner you will need to uninstall the old version (if previously used) from your Add/Remove Programs list and then install the latest version. To do this, follow the steps here and reboot afterwards if your system does not reboot automatically or it will show 'Kaspersky Online Scanner license key was not found!

Run HJT again and put a check in the following:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [bike plan] C:\DOCUME~1\RICHAR~1\APPLIC~1\atomdupe\Mapi browse.exe

Close all applications and browser windows before you click "fix checked".

Please download the OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
  • Copy the lines in the codebox below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    Code:
    C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\RICHARD HA\APPLICATION DATA\ATOMDUPE
    C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\ALL USERS\APPLICATION DATA\INFO OPTION GLOBAL BLAH
    C:\Documents and Settings\Richard Ha\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\HG0RTTGD
    • Return to OTMoveIt2, right click in the "Paste Custom List Of Files/Patterns To Move" window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
    • Click the red Moveit! button.
    • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
    • Close OTMoveIt2

Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Please perform a scan with Panda ActiveScan - ActiveScan does not remove adware/spyware but will autoclean for viruses & worms.
  • Click "Scan Your PC".
  • A new window will open. Click "Check Now!".
  • Fill in your registration and click "Scan Now!".
  • You may receive an alert on the address bar that "This site might require the following ActiveX control...Click here to install...". Click on that alert and then Click Install ActiveX component.
  • A new window will appear asking "Do you want to install this software?"" Name: asinst.cab.
  • Select "Install" to download the ActiveX controls that allows ActiveScan to run.
  • If running MSAS beta you may receive an alert that an IE ActiveX program requires your approval. Click "Allow".
  • Select a device to scan: Click on "Local Disks" [allow it to Auto Clean].
  • When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the "See Report button", then "Save Report" to your desktop.
  • Post back the results of your scan and any infected files that are found but not deleted.

the link for OTMoveIt2 is showing me the "The server at download.bleepingcomputer.com is taking too long to respond", and when I click "Scan Your PC" on the Panda ActiveScan page I get a blank window.

Click here to download Dr.Web CureIt and save it to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick the drweb-cureit.exe file and allow to run the express scan
  • This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.
  • Once the short scan has finished, mark the drives that you want to scan.
  • Select all drives. A red dot shows which drives have been chosen.
  • Click the green arrow at the right, and the scan will start.
  • Click 'Yes to all' if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
  • When the scan has finished, look if you can click next icon next to the files found:
  • If so, click it and then click the next icon right below and select Move incurable as you'll see in next image:
  • This will move it to the %userprofile%\DoctorWeb\quarantaine-folder if it can't be cured. (this in case if we need samples)
  • After selecting, in the Dr.Web CureIt menu on top, click file and choose save report list
  • Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
  • Close Dr.Web Cureit.
  • Reboot your computer!! Because it could be possible that files in use will be moved/deleted during reboot.
  • After reboot, post the contents of the log from Dr.Web you saved previously in your next reply along with a new HijackThis log.
