One of my Windows XP systems was infected with AntiVirXP08 and/or WinDefender 2008. I ran McAfee VirusScan, which couldn't remove the malware, then Spyware Doctor, which found and removed a number of infections. Upon rebooting, I am presented with a blue screen and the "your PC is infected" dialog - no desktop, no taskbar, no start button.

Rebooting in Safe Mode results in a black screen (with the Safe Mode words in the corners), but again - no desktop, no taskbar, no start button.

I cannot follow any of the suggested steps to manually remove the malware, nor to install "fix-it" software because I can't get to the command prompt or past the blue/blank screen.

Suggestions? Please!
