[ersatz]

greetings, all.

I'm running an IBM ThinkPad with Windows XP Professional (v 2002, SP2). IT had previously belonged to a friend who no longer wanted it once she bought a new laptop, etc. It's pretty clogged up with all her old junk, but the few times I have tried to use it (sporadically over the past few months) it has seemed slow but fine. Now, for some reason certain websites/applications aren't working anymore-- and it seems to be ones that involve security, "logging in" etc, for example messaging programs or email accounts. Yahoo mail, for example, the login page won't even load and the "diagnostic test" gives that generic message about how it can't connect via HTTP, HTTPS or FTP. I was reading some other posts about similar problems, and people have suggested that it could be virus related, so I thought I would also seek your help. I have posted my recent hijackthis log below, in hopes that it might offer some clues.

As I mentioned this was my friend's old laptop, from college, so it still has some leftovers from her campus networking days, etc. I believe some of that is showing up in the log as well, but again, the computer has worked fine before even with that stuff in there-- the trouble i've encountered is recent and I can't think of anything that has happened to cause it.
