Unhappy Solved: Ignored post PLEASE HELP with my CiD popups-Hijack This Log included
CiD adserver5.com Pop-ups!HELP ME GET RID OF THEM PLLLLEEEAASSEEEE!

I have downloaded about 20 difference virus/adware/spyware scans and none of them have picked up on or fixed my constant pop-ups from
CiD adserver5.com

I've got McAfee and that hasnt picked up on it and AOL spyware protection hasnt picked up on it either.

None of all the other scans ive downloaded off the net have found it either.

I've looked on my add/remove programs list and i havent seen anything from messenger or anything saying CiD on it. I dont know what else to do now, ive tried sooo many scans from soo many different places and it still isnt fixed

ITS SOOOO annoying!!Im trying to study and I get about 6 pop-ups every couple of minutes and then my aol will freeze and then my comp will freeze.

I do have msn messenger but as far as i can see there are no add-ons and nothing in the add/remove program list.

Alot of my programs are non-responsive aswell and my automatic updates (security center) KEEPS on turning off, when i turn it back on it only lasts a few minutes and turns off again and when i re-boot it is off again.

I have Windows XP and im using aol wireless broadband if that helps?

Im not exactly a computer whizz and i need to solve this asap as i must get on with my course.

HERE IS MY HIJACKTHIS LOG IF THAT HELPS ANYONE?? I wouldnt mind any other solutions other han hijack aswell.

Hi, Welcome to TSG!

I would not say we ignored your post but you must have missed our instructions posted here:
Sticky: Please read here first BEFORE posting for help in this forum

Download OTScanIt.exe to your Desktop and double-click on it to extract the files. It will create a folder named OTScanIt on your desktop.
  1. Close any open browsers.
  2. If your Real protection or Antivirus intervenes with OTScanIt, allow it to run.
  3. Open the OTScanit folder and double-click on OTScanit.exe to start the program.
  4. Under Additional Scans put a check in the box for BotCheck
  5. Now click the Run Scan button on the toolbar.
  6. The program will be scanning huge amounts of data so depending on your system it could take a long time to complete. Let it run unhindered until it finishes.
  7. When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
  8. Save that notepad file

Please post the resulting log here as an attachment.
  • Click on the blue Reply button
  • scroll down to Manage Attachments
  • Click in the box that says Upload File from your Computer
  • Click the Browse... button and find the file then click open
  • Click the Upload button
  • Wait until you see Current Attachment and your file name
  • Click on Close this window
  • Then submit the reply.

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version of Java components and upgrade the application. Beware it is NOT supported for use in 9x or ME and probably will not install in those systems

Upgrading Java:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 7.
  • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Select your Platform and check the box that says: "I agree to the Java SE Runtime Environment 6 License Agreement.".
  • Click on Continue.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation (jre-6u7-windows-i586-p.exe) and save it to your desktop. Do NOT use the Sun Download Manager..
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java version.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on the download to install the newest version.

The P2P programs you have installed expose you to risks because of the nature of the P2P file sharing process. File sharing/P2P programs rely on members giving and gaining unrestricted access to computers across the P2P network. This practice can make you vulnerable to data and identity theft. It also exposes you to very malicious worms and trojans. You change those risky default settings to a safer configuration but the act of downloading files from an anonymous source greatly increases your exposure to infection.

Start OTScanIt. Copy/Paste the information in the Code box below into the pane where it says "Paste fix here" and then click the Run Fix button.

Run HJT again and put a check in the following:

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {BC4FFE41-DE9F-46fa-B455-AAD49B9F9938} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {4D1C4E89-A32A-416b-BCDB-33B3EF3617D3} - (no file)

Close all applications and browser windows before you click "fix checked".

Print these instructions or save them to Notepad!
  • Close any open browsers.
  • Close/disable all anti-virus and anti-malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
  • Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:
Quote:
KILLALL::
Registry::
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\windows]
"AppInit_DLLs"=""
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\control\securityproviders]
"SecurityProviders"="msapsspc.dll, schannel.dll, digest.dll, msnsspc.dll"
Save this as CFScript.txt in the same location as ComboFix.exe

Then drag the CFScript.txt into the ComboFix.exe as shown in the screenshot below.

This will start ComboFix again. It may ask to reboot. Post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply.

Run Malwarebytes again and post that log with a new hijackthis log.

Also please tell me if you are having any problems.

Happy to hear all is well!

Follow these steps to uninstall Combofix and tools used in the removal of malware
  • Click START then RUN
  • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.

Now you should Clean up your PC
