Hi there. I've been working on my dad's computer now for a couple days on and off, and I can't figure out what's wrong with it. The problem I'm getting is that it's running surprisingly slow for a somewhat recently new (relatively speaking) computer. It's a 2.08 ghz Windows XP system with 448 MB of RAM, and yet it runs like it's a x386. It appears to have trouble multi-tasking, like opening two intstances of Firefox, or simply opening any window and then trying to right click on anything. It takes about a minute for the right-click menu to come up. Unfortunately, my dad isn't the most computer savvy guy so he's no real help. The computer used to have McAffee AV which I've replaced with Avast. McAffee showed the system as perfectly clear, while Avast brings up 108 instances of malware, most of which appear unable to be moved by Avast, including one called freeze_388.exe. Here's my HJT log.
