Question Vundo, Generic Downloader,
Lately I've been getting a lot of popups and my viruscan thing keeps popping up saying it's deleted trojan vundo, generic dropper, generic downloader.
I did an online scan on window security and it picked up something called
"Trojan.Win32.Conhook.IK 41 process - high risk"

Here is my HJT log.

My computer has become really slow. As in it takes half and hour to start up and at least ten minutes to open anything.
It has started going blank a lot, when I tried to start it up with safe mode I just got a black screen.

Also it won't let me open firefox or i.e.

Download ComboFix from Here to your Desktop.

**Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop and run from the desktop and not any other folder on your computer**
--------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
  • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results"
  • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
  • Remember to re enable the protection again after combofix has finished
--------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Close any open browsers and any other programs you might have running
Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
If you are using windows XP It might display a pop up saying that "Recovery console is not installed, do you want to install?"
Please select yes & let it download the files it needs to do this
When finished, it will produce a report for you.
Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review

****Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall or freeze ****

Note: ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making it the default browser.
Note: Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CDs, floppies and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you -- please tell us when you reply. Read HERE why we disable autoruns

At the moment, I'm unable to ... do anything with that computer except ctrl + alt + delete, (I'm on my friends computer right now). I am trying to download combofix but my laptop won't even open any internet browsers.

Is there a way I could get around using the internet? I tried downloading combofix and putting it on a flash drive to transfer it to the laptop, but the laptop won't even pick up the flash drive.

Also another thing that has started happening is that the start menu bar at the bottom of the screen with all the windows hasn't been appearing.

yes you will lose everything

the only other thing you can try is start in safe mode, ( press F8 at boot time & select safe mode with networking) then install & run combofix & see if it will work

So I was finally able to get the flash drive working on my comp after several hours. I was trying to drag combofix onto the desktop but somehow it ended up running.
I know you said to only run it off the desktop so should I just stop combofix from running?
