| Hi Dimi73. I received your PM. This is a high risk trojan, keylogger which can steal your financial data. I would suggest backing up your data and follow up with a full format and reload of the operating system and applications. That being said it will be up to you to make the decision to try and *clean* up the computer or not. |

| Dear Cybertech, I am ok to follow your instructions of what needs to be done. I think if maybe i should run scans like karspersky or so on.. I am not sure how to back up files.. I have an external hard drive where i back up my pictures and music files, but i am not sure what else should be backed up before starting things from scratch again.. I hope you have time to advise me. thanks and regards, Dimi |

| I would start by looking at your Start, Program Files. Take notes on what programs you use and find the installation CD's for those along with your XP CD and any other CD's you need for example motherboard drivers, video drivers, Anti-virus, firewall, etc. Since you already backup your pictures and music files you have an idea of how the copy works. By the way, have you scanned the external drive to be sure you have no infected files there? Backup your C:\Documents and Settings\your profile\Desktop folder, drag the entire file to your external drive and copy it there. Repeat the same thing for Favorites, My Documents, My Pictures, etc. If you use Outlook search for your pst files. By default they will be in C:\Documents and Settings\your profile\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook. It's possible you may have put them in another location. Export your contacts to a pst file as well so you can import those after the reinstall. If you use Outlook Express this is a good site to guide you: http://support.microsoft.com/default...;EN-US;q270670 I also save my quick launch, you may or may not use or care about that. The location is C:\Documents and Settings\your profile\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch. You will want to repeat this for any other users on the machine as well. By default many of these folders are hidden so open Windows Explorer. Go to Tools, Folder Options and click on the View tab. Make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files". Now click "Apply to all folders" Click "Apply" then "OK". Hope that helps. ![]() |

| Hi Cybertech, I am in the process of saving my files and so on. But I am very unsure of how to re-install everything b y myself. I have never done this before and have no idea how long that would take.. I am a bit worried of doing it that way yet. Is there no other way of trying to clean and rid the machine of any malware? Also would I loose my Internet favourites? Could we just run a scan together to check what might be on my PC in terms of malware? Sorry to ask you all this and I keep my fingers crossed that this is still possible to achieve a clean up without having to rebuild the whole PC.. thanks dimi |

| Hi Cybertech. I just did the OTScan and attach the file. I did not even realise there was a way to save favourites.. I also ran Microsoft defender which found trojan: win32/AgentBypas.gen!K and quarantined it. I am here on the PC so can wait your further instructions. Again thanks for your help. I will definitely donate to the site this time as this is the 3rd (and I hope last time) that I ask for TechGuy's help. Can you donate via paypal? thanks dimi |

The fix should only take a very short time. When the fix is completed a message box will popup telling you that it is finished. Click the Ok button and Notepad will open with a log of actions taken during the fix. Post that information back here. I will review the information when it comes back in. Your Java is out of date. Use Secunia software inspector & update checker and remove all old versions from add/remove programs. Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program. Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop. alternate link 1 alternate link 2
Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner Kaspersky online scanner uses JAVA tecnology to perform the scan. If you do not have the latest JAVA version, follow the instrutions below under Upgrading Java, to download and install the latest vesion.

| Thank you for your confidence! ![]() Please download the OTMoveIt3 by OldTimer.
If there are other people who log into this machine I suggest you run MalwareBytes on their log in as well. Using on line banking is a risky business so I support your thoughts on not using it especially on this machine! |

| Hi Cybertech, thanks again for helping me. Here are the results of MoveIt: ========== FILES ========== C:\Program Files\Logitech\Video\Launcher.exe moved successfully. C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\RG7HMWH2 moved successfully. OTMoveIt3 by OldTimer - Version 1.0.10.0 log created on 04062009_235107 Please let me know what else I should do. PS: before I waited for your answer I also ran Panda's Active scan, here are the results as well in text attachement. Finally I wondered if I should do something about that line in my last HJT: O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file) |

| When you see Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\LUX7WNP5 that means the infected file is in your Temporary Internet Files. Close all IE windows and go to control panel, internet options and under Temporary Internet files click on the Delete files button. A new window will pop up to delete offline content, select that box as well. 7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045 belongs to Windows Live, it's fine. |
