IE crashing, multiple iexplore.exe processes
Hi all,

Lately, IE has been crashing at random. I also noticed instances of multiple iexplore.exe processes, despite no browser windows being open. Each time I end the processes, they just keep coming back. It's not unlike what I've seen happen a couple of years ago to some users.

As soon as I boot up in normal mode, there is at least one iexplore.exe already running when I check Task Manager and when I try to browse through folders (eg. My Documents), my computer starts to lag as the number of iexplore.exe processes start to multiply.

At this point, I'm a bit stumped as to what to do. Repair methods that worked for people with similar cases in the past don't seem to be doing the trick. I've run Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D, Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware, a-squared, found and got rid of other stuff while scanning in safe mode. Unfortunately, the fix for this one problem escapes me, so your help would be much appreciated!

Here's my HiJackThis log.

Bump! Please help, IE hasn't been crashing like mad like it was a couple of days ago, but the suspicious iexplore.exe's are still there and they still start multiplying whenever I open up a folder.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I almost forgot, killing the process still doesn't do me any good. Another one takes its place.

Bump... and an update. So far, browsing on Firefox doesn't seem to be affected, so it's a bit more stable there. However, I still can't browse through most of my system's folders without multiple iexplore.exe's launching automatically. So, I definitely stil need help.
