Hello friendly people. Sadly, my computer has been turned into a mass mailing zombie overnight. I received an email from a friend a few weeks ago which I opened, recognized as crapola, and immediately deleted. There was no attachment, however obviously viewing the message was enough to do the damage, as all my contacts received the same junk mail last night as I slept.

On a different help forum I read about an app called ATF Cleaner. Would that be helpful in this instance, or is it just a user-friendly skin for people who don't know/are afraid to unhide hidden files and delete them manually?

I've done scans with my Avast! Antivirus and an offsite one by BitDefender, and both came up clean.
I appreciate any help anyone may be able to offer.

It just occurred to me - could the issue/virus reside within Hotmail's servers? I've done multiple scans and everything comes up clean, however I guess it could just be something for which no antivirus has a definition yet.

I also theorized that since there was no attachment to the offending email, the virus might have been harbored by the hyperlinked text (the website link). Maybe I'm way off on both of those, I dunno.
