Very strange situation. A day or so ago, web browsing slowed down. It seems to be the upload that is causing the problem. Here is why I believe that

• speedtest.net comes back with normal results for latency and download speed. Locks up when it tries to check upload speed
• Can download email fine, but sending (uploading) emails does not work for anything larger than the tiniest email

I have power cycled the cable modem and the wireless router several times. Of course, I have re-booted the computer many times. No change

I have run adaware, spybot and superantispyware which all only found a few tracking cookies. Even when I shut them all down, it is still slow.

I had tried a nearby network as a control source to determine if it was my hardware/software vs. my network. Though it is very low signal (neighbour's unsecured network), I had been able to use it in the past when trying out some things. Now, it was not working. This led me to believe I had a problem with my machine.

I took laptop to a friend's house and tried it on his network. No problems. Brought it home and tried again. No problems. Good news, but can't explain.

Happy that I am back to normal, but worried that I am going to experience degradation again. Any thoughts?
