Cannot Acess Certain Websites
I know this is a common problem but I have been unable to fix it through a lot of searching. This is my secondary computer that is having issues. Something happened and a few drivers were deleted, mostly sound. I lost internet with sound and had to reinstall my drivers for that and the chipset as well. Got that all up and running and for some reason the date changed on my PC. When I changed it back Norton suddenly said my subscription was expired and to renew (when I know it is not, I have 2 other PCs running). Then suddenly I am not able to access Norton or any other form of security sites such as AVG, Superantispyware, McAfee or even any of the Microsoft help links. When I type those sites in I get redirected to Yahoo search. I thought something grabbed ahold of my host file or something. I tried resetting my winsock and also checked my host file for any odd files there...nothing. I tried LSPFix and DRTCP. I am thinking I may have downloaded malware or something when I had to find and reinstall all my drivers I lost. Unfortunately now when I run Norton for a full system scan and set it as such, it still only scans about 6,000 files, which is what a quick scan would do, then finds nothing. I cannot access any protection sites for another program like Avast or Avira to check for malware. I am currently only able to do a scan with windows defender which is running now with nothing found. My PC seems to stall now sometimes in the middle of startup....or it loads and I get access to some internet sites and it will completely lock up when trying to search or access others. It is a complete mess and unfortunately it did not come with any of the original program discs to even do a fresh start. When the date was somehow chaged, all of my system restore points were also lost. Whatever happened did so in a big way and things are not running right at all. This seemed to be the best site to ask for help. I'd appreciate anything at this point...
