Hello, and thank you to whoever is reading this. Yesterday, my laptop contracted TrojanSPM/LX. It won't let me access my Task Manager - every time I press ctrl+alt+dlt, it says that it has been disabled by my administrator because the file has been infected. And my desktop image is gone - it is just a blank color.

On the taskbar, a window keeps popping up that says my computer is infected and recommends that I purchase some sort of Spyware software to fix my computer.

And a window also keeps popping up every so often that says:
Attention! System detected a potential hazard (TrojanSPM/LX) on your computer that may infect executable files. You private information and PC safety is at risk. To get rid of unwanted spyware and keep your computer safe you need to update your current security software. Click OK to download official intrusion detection system (IDS software)
^(the typos and were included in the "WARNING" message, and the only option was an OK button)

I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 notebook/laptop and a Windows XP operating system. I have run scans with Symantec Endpoint Protection, but the trojan won't go away. It has, however, detected "Trojan.Fakeavalert" and says that a restart is required to delete it, but the scan finds the same files each time I restart. Is there any way you can help me get rid of the trojan?
