and then
use javare from http://raproducts.org/ to remove all old versions oif java & update to the lastest one

That javare was a bit confusing but it's all done now. I also have a couple of windows updates that failed so I'll keep trying to fix that one.

I assume whatever infected me knocked out my HJT, MBAM and Spybot, and that is why I'm getting the permissions problem now. What can I do to fix this - uninstall and then reinstall them ??? Or does the problem go deeper than that ???

How did you read that log so quick anyway - I hadn't even finished pasting it ???

reinstall HJT, MBAM and spybot

teh version of HJT that rsit used worked fine so reboot & reinstall them

24 hours later and all seems well. Have we finished now ??? If so, what do hedgehogs eat - I'll send them a great big bowl of it.
