[Windows XP home]
Hello,

Recently, there has been strange occurrences on my computer. I came across an Antivirus Pro 2010 setup and was a bit reluctant, but ended up installing it without realizing that it was actually a spyware/virus.

Now that it is installed,my computer is screaming with the fan (probably due to extreme memory usage), task bar icons are popping up revealing that I have a virus, and other functions of my computer are inaccessible.

EDIT:
I tried to uninstall this using the uninstaller that came with this software, but it has not totally rendered my computer inaccessible. All I am able to see is a black screen with the cursor. I tried accessing windows using safemode and the same error exists. At this point I'm very worried as there are some crucial programs that I need on this computer :[

I ran through a hijack this console, and came with the following results:

Thanks for your help!
I am somewhat computer literate. I know the following terms: OS, msconfig, regedit, malwarebytes and hijackthis.

Please help
A shameless bump...

I took the matters on my own hands a bit, but I just wanted a confirmation if the system is "fully" recovered.

The steps I have taken:
  • I slaved the infected drive to a working drive, and used malwarebytes and cleaned just the quarenteeable on the drive.
  • Next, I made a BartPE cd and used it on the infected drive(now on master) and restored the SYSTEM and SOFTWARE files inside the system32/config folder
  • The above process allowed my entrance into the windows interface
  • I then ran malwarebytes again to allow the registry to be checked.
  • I ran Hijack this and removed a couple of the known as infected files.
Here are the Logs:

Note: I have posted both the Hijackthis and Malwarebyte logs

I am concerned with one of the hijackthis log: O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Jmasolovo] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\amosequpal.dll",Startup

Hi Welcome to TSG!!

Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools.
If you are not sure how to disable see this help page.

Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 2

**Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools.

Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply for further review.
