Firefox Redirect, IE No Load, and No Safe Mode
Hi all--

I've been closely following neonfx's excellent, detailed help of smashedatoms, who has a very similar problem to mine. Recently (within the last week), I tried to boot into safe mode, and it went directly to the XP splash screen. When I Googled for help and found this site, I kept getting redirected. I downloaded the utils, ran them, and logged the results. After running TheHammer.exe, I now get (upon reboot) a choice of Normal or Recovery Console with a 0-second wait time. The browser is still hijacked, and IE will not load (I normally use Firefox, which is what's being hijacked).

So, I'm attaching the logs I've just created after running the following utils:

HijackThis
Gmer
OTS
RootRepeal
The Hammer (ComboFix)

When I ran these utils, I used the parameters specified by neonfx in his discussion with smashedatoms:

I probably shouldn't confess this, but I have a Ghost image of my machine that I think I can ultimately use if we can't fix the problems here. Last time I tried to restore a Ghost image I had issues, so I'm a little afraid of trying it at this point, since I need my desktop to function right now.

I'm running XP SP2, if that helps at all.

Thanks to all of you knowledgable people who volunteer your time with such clear and detailed instructions. We're all grateful!

Hi all--

I see other threads newer than mine that have replies, so it makes me wonder if I did something wrong in my posting. If so, would some kind soul share the info so I can make corrections and receive help? TIA to all.
