About:blank pages, slow or no loading...
I've used your site several times in the past, and am in need once again! I can usually clear most things on my own, but this one is making me nuts.

I have a Dell Dimension 3100, running Windows XP, SP3. I've noticed in the last couple weeks that my pages load much slower than usual and sometimes not at all. And in the last few days, I've started getting the about:blank pages....sometimes 5-10 at a time will open on their own.

I just updated my AVGfree to 9.0....ran a full scan with that....nothing was found. I also ran Super Antispyware and only a couple minor things were found. But, I feel that this is getting worse as each day goes on....don't want a repeat of what I had many months ago!

Can you please help? Here is a Hijack log that I just ran.

Forgot to add that I did a scan with MalwareBytes, and it found 3 Rootkit issues, but
they were in my Systems files (something "atapi") and I was scared to delete them.
I'm at work now, so I don't have the exact files that it found.

My computer is really getting bad now! I hope someone can help. I think it may be the "iframe" virus....I get tons of windows opening on their own, and then everything freezes. And the urls say things about google and iframe.

Thank you!

Nothing yet? I'm still getting the same constant about:blank windows popping up, and the computer is getting slower and slower. But, my scans don't bring up any virus alerts.

  • Click on the Misc Tools button
  • Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.
  • Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file. Save the file to your desktop.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and save to your desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.

    Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform Full scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please copy and paste the log back into your next reply

    Note:
  • The log can also be found here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt
  • Or via the Logs tab when Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is started.

NEXT Download and Run: RSIT
  • Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (<<will be maximized) and info.txt (<<will be minimized)

Please reply with:-
  • Uninstall list
  • MBAM log
  • RSIT logs ( info.txt and log.txt)

Hi, lets see what we can find. What is K drive? If it is an external drive please make sure it is attached when scanning.

1. Open Hijack This and select Do a System Scan Only place a check next to the below lines if still present
  • O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {1E61ED7C-7CB8-49d6-B9E9-AB4C880C8414} - (no file)
    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {CCC7A320-B3CA-4199-B1A6-9F516DD69829} - (no file)
    O15 - Trusted Zone: <http://www.email.secureserver.net>
    O15 - Trusted Zone: <http://download.windowsupdate.com>
    O16 - DPF: {CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-0005-ABCDEFFEDCBA} (Java Plug-in 1.6.0_05) -
    O16 - DPF: {CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-0007-ABCDEFFEDCBA} (Java Plug-in 1.6.0_07)

Once selected close all windows except HJT an click on Fix Checked

2. Please go to Virus Total <http://www.virustotal.com/> or Jotti
and upload C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\owoyqqccdkdc.sys for scanning.

For Virus Total
1. Please copy and paste C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\owoyqqccdkdc.sys in the text box next to the Browse button.
2. Click on Send File.

For Jotti
1. Please copy and paste C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\owoyqqccdkdc.sys in the text box next to the Browse button.
2. Click on Submit.

Please post back the results of the scan in your next post.

3. GMER Rootkit Scanner
Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here.
  • Double click the .exe file. If asked to allow gmer.sys driver to load, please consent
  • If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan...click on NO

Click the image to enlarge it
  • In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following ...
    • Sections
    • IAT/EAT
    • Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
    • Show All (don't miss this one)
  • Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish
  • Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "Gmer.txt" or it will save as a .log file
  • Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and post it in reply
**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<--- ROOKIT" entries

Please reply with:-
  • Virus total/jotti results
  • GMER Log
  • New HJT log

I don't have a K:/ drive....it only goes up to J:/, so not sure what that is. But, I did google the file that was showing in the K:/ drive (rcaeasyrip_setup.exe) and there were alot of the same instances that I'm having....google redirects, windows opening constantly, etc. So maybe that's part of the issue?

I wasn't sure if you only needed the summary of the Virus Total report or if I had to click on Show Last Report....so here are both.

Virus Total:
