There's definitely a lot of programs running. Do you know how much memory the computer has?

1GB isn't too bad for Windows XP. More memory couldn't hurt though.

Do you also do routine maintenance on the computer? Such as a Disk Cleanup and Disk Defrag?

* Click here to download ATF Cleaner by Atribune and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Under Main choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
    • If you use Firefox:
      • Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
      • Click the Empty Selected button.
      • NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
    • If you use Opera:
      • Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
      • Click the Empty Selected button.

      • NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
  • Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

You could probably speed things up but trimming down your Startup list. There are many programs running and there's definitely some unnecessary ones that don't need to be.

I actually maintain my pc regulary.. Once a month or so, should i do it more? I've also removed some programs i rarely use such as games and downloaded programs. I also have ATF cleaner and i use that aswell!
How do i fix my startup list? Under start there is a folder called start where i only have Windows Outlook, which i use, but still MSN pops up and other things on the processline or what it's called.

Check out this link: http://netsquirrel.com/msconfig/msconfig_xp.html

It's essentially a Windows command that can disable some of the unnecessary programs that automatically load on start up.

Down towards the bottom, they have a link for an "Startup Applications" list.
That way you can look up what programs you are actually disabling in case you don't know what they are.

I also find this link helpful:
