I have eset smart security 4, and it tells me there is a virus in quarantine, it is a variant of Win32/BHO.NPE trojan
I cannot get rid of this whatsoever. At the moment it only really affects windows and internet explorer, firefox is grand.

First thing is you should only have one anti-virus program running so remove ESET or McAfee.

After that let me know if you still need help.

Hey, thanks for the advice, I deleted McAfee about an hour ago. This seemed to do the trick, I could delete the virus no problem, it didn't pop up as usual. But now it has again, and is appearing every 4 seconds, still only really affecting internet explorer.

Run HJT again and put a check in the following:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - (no file)

Close all applications and browser windows before you click "fix checked".



Download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.

• Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
• Under Main choose: Select All
• Click the Empty Selected button.

Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.




Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
• Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
• The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
• When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
• The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
• Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.

Extra Note:

If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove,you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts,click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.
