Taskmgr.exe gone mad
My Taskmgr.exe is using 40% to 60% of CPU and is running continuously. Now taking 20 secs to open internet instead of instant. Also if I click on a link in an e mail it is not opening Internet Explorer for me.
I ran full scan with Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 anf it found a Trojan (Joke something or other) and deleted it. Machine still exhibits same behavoir. I have also run two registry scans and all OK.
Machine is laptop Win XP home , 1GB Ram , 160HDD been kept clean by Kaspersky for 3 years. Also Kaspersky is downloading crazy amounts. 173.4 MB yesterday and 122MB today. Like the update program is not switching off correctly?

I read your sticky about posting and clicked on the link HERE to download Hijack but one of the current problems is that clicking on a link does not do anything at all

Advise appreciated Ron

Unhappy Situation Update
despite running Anti Malware then Spyhunter then SuperAntispyware problem not solved.

I got rid of 27 adware trackers
1 x ntoskrnl.exe Trojan Dropper
1 x spyprotector,ink Rogue Spy Protector

Still got problems on my Windows XP laptop If I open say Excel no problem
If I open Outlook.Express .no problem
If I click to launch Internet explorer there is a 20 second wait before it opens to home page.
If I click on Favourites there is a 15 second wait and nothing happens. If I then click on favourites again the list appears instantly, and links work instantly, as normal.

Once open, Internet explorer works as normal
but If I click on an internet link in an e mail there is a 20 second wait and nothing happens

so there is still something wrong

Any advice welcome

Ron

Probled solved
Thanks everyone for all your help
Stops you feeling lonely on the internet!

Anyway,
After running all the antispyware progs I could find, I looked ay my Internet Connect Usage in Kaspersky and KIS2010 was gobbling up bandwidth. So I reinstalled Kaspersky 2010 and PC is now back to normal IE explorer is fine and I can now click on a link.
Instant loading of internet again.

Thanks also to everyone who replied.

New reset point made for PC !
