I have been doing some work on my boyfriends computer, trying to figure out why it is moving so slowly. When I tried cleaning up his registry and installing Avast anti-virus, the programs would mysteriously get deleted. I get this error message:
"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
We also received an error about C:\windows\system32\sefewana.dll. I have researched it, and it appears to be a virus.
When trying to download anti-virus software, after completing the download and starting the scan, it immediately stops and the program is completely gone. I then get the error message mentioned above. I have tried many different anti-virus programs, and none of them will do a complete scan without disappearing.
Is the computer a lost cause? It seems to me that there aren't any other options other than completely wiping the hard drive.
Thanks!
Mika
