looking at the logs they show failed updates to ati drivers

what drivewrs are you trying to update, where are you getting the new drivers from

are you downloading direct from ATI site or from another download site on the net

if not direct from ATI drivers site then make sure you only download direct from them

Originally I had Omega drivers, Prior to that I forgot to use the "ati uninstall removal" tool in add/remove software. But I thought I corrected this issue when I uninstalled everything and then used driver sweeper.

Right now i'm using drivers directly from the site.

Also, last night my modem wouldnt start up for about an hour. I exchanged it for a new one today, and was hoping it'd fix the problem.. But it didn't. (The crashing problem, I mean. The new modem works just fine.)

I'm using the first scan on the list at the moment.

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\LimeWire\Saved\Pendulum - The Tempest.mp3 is infected with Adware.ZangoSearch

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\LimeWire\Saved\x men animated series intro.mp3 is infected with Trojan.Brisv.A!inf

Really regret having that on my comp..

Presumably, I should just delete them like the files before?

The Second Scan, HouseCall, found nothing. Going on to the third now.

ActiveScan found some significant things, after a long-winded scan.

As well as a folder full of porn.

I hit disinfect for the ones it could, and deleted the files it couldn't.

I didn't do anything about the "Suspected Threats" as well as any of the Vulnerabilities. Gonna run the next scan.

that shows, youa re very out of date with windws updates

you are using a P2P program & have loads of cracks

these cracks alter teh programs & often the operatring system in ways taht are difficult to find & fix

my considered opinion is that it will be quicker & safer & easier top format, reinstall teh OS & then NOT install cracked software

Well thank you for all the help and time you invested in this problem.

Just for some feedback, After a new C++ runtime error, and a little investigation. I started to suspect that i may simply have a memory leak somewhere. I used DebugDiag and ran a log of all process events, and wmiprvse.exe was active during the slowdown. I downloaded the hotfix supplied by windows, and I haven't been able to test it yet. Will get back to you on that.

I also have removed most of the malware detected by activescan and symantec. I may buy symantec after all this is over with.

Again, thanks for the assistance, hopefully I can report back that my problems are gone.

Like I asked in my previous thread before this one:

Is it possible that router configurations can create more of a demand on the computer?

With some googling I see that having 2 different subnets with your routers can cause cpu lag? But if i recall, my phones didn't work when the VoIP router was set to the same subnet.. God, this is so annoying.

Edit: sorry for doublepost, thought I hit edit.

I just went back to my old router setup. Same subnet on both, but now my voip is the first router, which is then connected to a linksys and then my comp.

I just really need help port forwarding through 2 routers now.

I asked in the networking section. I guess this topic is closed because it's evidently not a malware problem.

I should have went with my gut..

It was my dual router setup. It was configured inefficiently.

When I first posted I asked if it was possible that a router setup could lag online applications. They told me no.. Even when I posted a pic of msn displaying that there was some kind of problem regarding the nat setup.

When I got rid of the double nat layers, the problem cleared up instantly.

So thank you for the time invested, The forum needs more dedicated people like yourself.

In post # 9 you said, "... I just finished directly connecting to the modem, and the speeds are still the same." How could router configuration be any factor in that when none were involved?
