Constant crashing of all programs
Operating System - Windows 7

I have recently been experiencing constant crashing of all programs that I run. For example, firefox and windows live mail crash suddenly after a while of using them, and windows media player crashes after 10 minutes of playing a video.
Also, when I close firefox it doesn't close completely. I can't reopen it until I 'end process' it through task manager.
It has only started doing it this week, as opposed to when I installed Windows 7 so I think the two are unrelated.
