Control centre Virus
Controll center virus?
Could any one please help, i seem to have got a virus, that takes over the computer when i boot up, it also happens if i start in safe mode also.

What happens is, when i boot up, it all seems to go ok, until it gets to the desk top, then a program opens up covering the whole screen, it appears to be a page like computer scanner giving a report on a scan of the computer.

Among other things, it tells me i have over 700 virus's, when i click the little red shut down cross, i get a message that i cant do that with out the key number, it them offers me the chance to go on line and get the number, but then i get a message saying that it can not access the Internet.

I can move that page around on the desk top, but underneath it, i can see the desk top, but here is nothing on the desktop, no start button or anything.

The only thing i van do is hit the re load button and then switch off the puter, by the on off switch before it re boots. So i am well and truly stuck.

I think i got this virus downloading two tracks from Limewire, although i did check them with AVG Free, before i opened them.

i hasten to add, that i only download tracks that i have paid for on vinyl.

My operating system is XP Home.

The heading on the page, says Control center and Best PC Components.

Could any one please advise me of a way around this?

Thanks for any replies.

Click "Report" and then request your thread be moved to the malware removal section.

Go here and click the green icon to download HijackThis 2.0.2. Just download and save it for now and don't install it yet. If a malware removal expert needs a HijackThis log, you'll be given instructions for its use.

Fagin:

Your thread has already been moved to the "Malware Removal & HijackThis Logs" section.

Close all windows, then install HijackThis 2.0.2 in its default location: C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis.

Run a scan with it - which will take 30 seconds or less.

Save the resulting log in Notepad.

Return here, then copy-and-paste the entire log here.

A yellow shield malware expert will assist you afterwards. It's a very busy section, so it may be 24 - 48 hours before you get a reply.

I am afraid i cant do that, the whole screen Is covered by the, "control center page" i cannot log on to the INTERNET with that hard drive. I am posting here with a different hard drive with ubuntu installed. The only thing i can do, is boot up the computer, i cant even shut down, because the whole screen is covered including the start button. I have to hit the reset button and then switch off before it reboots to close it down.

Is there any way around this?

Wait for a malware expert to reply, then go from there.

It may come down to you doing a hard drive format and reinstall of XP.
