My computer won't let me log onto my standard user accounts
Dear guys...

I fear I may have something big wrong with my computer. I started the thread in the Vista board, but I'm afraid it might be a virus or something.

Here's the link to the other thread I started: http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vi...-my-other.html

But I'll repeat everything here. I have an admin account, and two standard user accounts. When I try to log into a standard user account, it brings me to a screen that says, Logging off... and then it comes back to the page where I choose which account I wish to log into.

The only change I have made before this began was installing a Vietnamese font software, so that I can type in Vietnamese. It is called VPSKEYS 4.3.

I can give you the site, but will wait if you ask for it, in case it has issues! But the font works fine, and I am so sad if it isn't ok, because I it actually is very well designed and stuff.

But I did a Malwarebytes scan after and it came up with nothing. Then I tried system restore, which won't work.

I am doing a Hijack this and going to post the log here for you.

Hi, I'm the same Moderator who has helped you with finding your threads....I have Closed the threads I could find for you, and left this one Open, please use just this one. I explained that there is a problem with our servers not being in sync...the update tonite should fix that problem.....in the meantime, you may not be able to find a band new thread you create. You must use just one thread per issue anyways as I explained.... When I click to view All your Threads....I do not see ANY in this Malware Removal forum, and I think that is part of the server issue we are going to have corrected hopefully this evening....Peace!

{Edited: You do have another thread left Open and you now have a reply there that may help with the not being able to log onto accounts problem so go check this thread please> http://forums.techguy.org/general-se...g-into-my.html

If you wish to have a HJT log checked continue with the below:

This is from your Hijackthis log:

Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2
Scan saved at 10:15:46 PM, on 9/12/2009

Is your time and date correct, and time zone, on your computer? (This may have something affecting your VPSKEY?)

Or, was this log just a mistake....can you post a fresh new HJT log please?

That was the one I just did! My time and date are correct on my computer when I look at the taskbar calendar/time. Let me try another one for you though and see what happens.

First, I should let you know when I hit the button to scan and save a logfile, it pops up a screen that says:

For some reason your system denied write access to the Hosts file. If any hijacked domaines are in this file, Hijack This mayy NOT be able to fix this.

If this happens, you need to edit the file yourself. To do this, click Start, Run and type: notepad C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

and press Enter, Find the line(s) Hijack This reports and dete them. Save the file as 'hosts.' (with quotes), and reboot.

For Vista: simply, exit Hijack This, right click on the HijackThis icon, choose 'Run as adminstrator'.

Crazy! This happened last time, wehen I asked about a virus on this thread: http://forums.techguy.org/general-se...ved-virus.html

And it has the same date!

I have moved a couple of the new posts you made here into the General Security forum so other folks can help you. I don't think malware is causing your problem so I am closing this thread.... I moved your Hijackthis log..... We will continue aat the one in General Security and I will Close this one.

This is where you are being helped

http://forums.techguy.org/general-se...g-into-my.html

There is about an hour until the site shuts down for maintenance...

Maybe you can try the suggestion by lunarlander that was posted earlier and tell us if that helped....
