It says atapi.sys is infected (Numerous scans cant detect it, but im relying on this info), I went to my drivers folder and I found atapi.sys along with atapi(638).sys

Is atapi(638).sys required?
and is it safe for me to copy the atapi.sys from My vista Basic laptop to my Vista Home Premium Driver folder?

Ok I decided to run a smart scan with ESET Smart Securuity. It first found 1 infection, then soon after that it said it found a second infection. When it found the second infection my whole entire computer just crashed with a funny colored screen with everything jumbled everywhere.
I am running the scan again but this time in safe mode.
Can anyone still tell me what that atapi(638).sys is, i searched google and it finds my page straight away.

I never got a log but It found an infection in my atapi.sys and so far everything seems to be working fine. Thanks big time and the cool thing is it took less than a second to find it.
The only problem I have now is ever since I ran dds my speakers have been making the extact same pop noise everytime I play sound. I know its nuthin to do with my electric and stuff like that caused by the washing machine becauase that type of pop pops through my speakers even if im not playing sound. This pop is weird, It pops during when I play Call of Duty 4, Itunes, and Youtube so far. I already tried a system restore earlier today but it did nothing. I hate dds

dds can't have casued anything to happen to the computer, all it does is looks at files & registry entries like Hijackthis does & doesn't & can't alter anything

Delete any existing version of ComboFix you have sitting on your desktop

Please read and follow all these instructions very carefully

1. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

Ey My speakers work fine, it was popping because my computer was on all night and apparently my CPU was slowing down or something.
Anyway I cant run combofix, It always got stuck when it asked me to Open nircmd.cfxxe
