excessive Hard Disk activity- a Virus?
Greetings to All!

on frequent occasions, the Hard Disk appears to be accessed for long periods of time (in ecess of 1/2 an hour) after which it reverts to normal activity for a while before starting the same cycle again.
While this is going on, my Computer stops responding totally and I can't even Shut Down or access the Task Manager to see what is using all the resources.
I have disabled Auto Updates on a number of programs, removed others from StartUp, and defragged the Hard Disk.
I have also rum MBAM; SpyBot and carried out a full check with Kaspersky Virus Killer, all of which reported clear.

I tried running the Panda On-Line Scanner, but it stopped after completing 40% and reported 3 Infected Files. It didn't say what files they were and directed me to a screen that wanted a payment to fix, and presumably continue scanning.

I have just started this post after waiting for the system return to normal. and hope to finish it before the Hard Disk spins up again.
I have posted an HJT Log below, and would be grateful if someone would check-it out and see if there is in fact any Malware evident that could be scanning my Computer and possibly accessing the Internet to transmit any files it gathers.

Many thanks for reading this - Any comments or help in resolving this would be greatly appreciated!!!
