Trojans (various) and Pop-Up's...help !!
Hi All,

Congratulations on a fantastic site – I have spent many hours reading through posts that have had similar problems to the one I now face.....

First post – so please forgive me if I sound a little off the track – I am a newbie J

I have read a number of posts and have downloaded a number of the programs that were suggested in an effort to try and work this out on my own.
SuperAntiSpyware, ComboFix, Ad-Aware,Spybot,AntiMalware. I did have a number of Trojans that were infecting my laptop (I am running Windows Vista with paid for AVG AV Software). I am confident that the software and the steps that I have taken (thank you to the experts on this forum !!) have eliminated most of (hopefully all!!) the virus(s) that had infected my laptop. But I still think something is not 100% right.

I have run all these programs following the suggestions from the forum experts very carefully. All programs have picked up with a Trojan or tracking cookies that I have been able to eliminate. I am hoping that my computer is now ‘clean’.

I most recently ran SUPERAntiSpyware and it discovered 3 Adware. Tracking Cookie and 2 Trojan.Agent/Gen-CDesc(Gen). I found this a little strange as I had also run AVG, Ad aware, Spybot and Antimalware previous to downloading and running SUPERAntiSpyware and they had not picked anything up? (All programs had found something when I initially ran the program).

For some reason, I am getting constant pop-ups from Ad-Watch Live! Alert warning me of a Registry Change. The pop up says -

“The process pev .cfxxe is trying to make changes to the Windows File Associations area in the registry”
and
The process vssvc.exe is trying to make changes to the Windows File Associations area in the registry.”
and
The process msiexec.exe is trying to make changes to the Windows File Associations area in the registry.”

Its asks me to either allow or block? I have done neither as I am not sure what the impact would be if I did?

I am also getting an annoying Windows based pop up that says “Windows has blocked applications on start up, it needs your permission to........”

Could someone please let me.

Thank you in advance....

Hiya and welcome to Tech Support Guy

Sorry for the lateness in a reply, but these forums are very busy

Are you still having this problem? If so, can you rescan with DDS, GMER and HijackThis, and post the fresh logs

Regards

eddie

hi eddie5659,

Thank you for reading my post. Apologies for not responding earlier. But I think I was able to resolve the problem having read a number (ALOT) of posts over the last couple of weeks.

Again, thank you for taking the time to respond. Should my puter slow down or anything else, I will re-post.

Cheer, TC
