Request for Help: Win32/Alureon.H Found
Hello,

I'm working on a friends computer and ran the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool and it found a trace of Win32/Alureon.H but said that it only "partially" removed it from the system, and that manual deletion would be required from that point on.

I've never dealt with this specific virus so am writing here to ask for help in removing it from the system. I saw a few other people who were able to get some help with this virus so I would greatly appreciate it if anyone can provide me with some assistance.

Thanks,

Andrew

Please read carefully and follow these steps.
  • Download TDSSKiller and save it to your Desktop.
  • Extract its contents to your desktop.
  • Once extracted, open the TDSSKiller folder and doubleclick on TDSSKiller.exe to run the application, then on Start Scan.

  • If an infected file is detected, the default action will be Cure, click on Continue.

  • If a suspicious file is detected, the default action will be Skip, click on Continue.

  • It may ask you to reboot the computer to complete the process. Click on Reboot Now.

  • If no reboot is require, click on Report. A log file should appear. Please copy and paste the contents of that file here.
  • If a reboot is required, the report can also be found in your root directory, (usually C:\ folder) in the form of "TDSSKiller.[Version]_[Date]_[Time]_log.txt". Please copy and paste the contents of that file here.

I appreciate the quick response but the computer is pretty much dead now so I'm going to have to just reformat it.

Thanks again for your assistance
