I'd like to propose that we open a MySql entry in the TSG Library, partly to consolidate all the answered queries that I/we will be generating shortly (I'm diving into MySql as a "noobie" and will be asking questions as I go...)

However, I would like some advice on the presentation and content (and on how to open and maintain the category), that would be most helpful to current and future noobies.

I envisioned a FAQ type presentation, which I would gladly update after each thread I post concerning MySql, gets answered... (yes/no?)

Obviously only you know what you have in mind; is this generally going to be exclusively about mySQL, or about SQL in general? It may be more useful to have a general SQL category, since it is at least fairly standardized and that would then help people using Access or another database program too. Obviously that could still hold mySQL specific information.

Just a thought Ent, but should that category not be in "Web Design and Development"?

I would have said so, except that neither databases nor SQL are exclusively the domain of the web.
If it were an Access DB, you could make a case for putting it in near MS office, and if it were associated with a custom program on a local computer that uses a Database, it should be situated nearer programming...

Point taken. I think I was just looking for something to pad out the web dev section, but after looking around it's all a bit thin on the ground in there...

I agree, web dev could do with some serious work.

I hope that I'll be able to add some content as my own experience of the field increases, but all and any help is always welcome.
