membership web site
have a memebship site that allows members to get into a protected directory. I am using a manual way of puting the username and passwrod for each memebr. I need to start using some type of database so I won't have to continue to have to set this up manually. When a member joins and pays his or her fee they will get a username and password via email. The user name and [assword will be put into a database so when they login in they will gain access to the members area.

I am using a linux based hosting server that supports php and mySQL. They charges too much for a mySQL interface. The only other way to get to mySQL is through the use of telnet.

Can I use Accessatabase instead if getting to mySQL is going to be difficult.

My problem is I don't know how the set up a connection to mySQL and if there are php scripts that can help me without having to reinvent the wheel.

I am looking at a program called DBQWIKSITE that is supposed to write the php for you. Any comments about this program.

You direction would be appreciated.

If you want to write your own script, sending MySQL queries through PHP is relatively easy
http://php.net/mysql

If you want to you a pre-written script, there are tons for this purpose at
http://hotscripts.com and other script sites. Browse around the Shopping Cart and E-Commerce categories and you will find some that can sell access to files.
