Link that prompts user to download a file?
Right now, my html link to a powerpoint presentation opens the powerpoint presentation in a new browser window... which it should. However, I'd like to know what I could add to the code to prompt the user to save the file to a place on his or her hard drive. This can be a different link. I want to avoid any instructions -- no "right click and 'save as'" or no "go to the File menu..." I just want a pop-up box that helps the user save to the machine.

Is there an easy way to do this with HTML or PHP?

Thanks,
P

So you want it like major download sites, where the window comes up automatically, not where theres an anchor tag with a link to the file?

Yes. Can this be done with a powerpoint file, or should I zip it first?

I'm not sure if powerpoint does it, so you may want to zip it.
