The question etaf asked are important to the solution, but the answer is relatively simple. If you have a web site already, please post the URL. Also, what FTP client do you use?

I know very little about this. I have WebDwarf V2, if that means any thing. No I don't have a web site, I don't know much about an FTP, except a little that I read in the tutorials. What I would like to place on the site for downloading would be mostly text, maybe a picture now and then.

ok so you have a wysiwyg (what you see is what you get) editor
so create some page's in that product - save them on your PC and see how it all look on your PC.
downloading pictures - is easy - because all the have to do is right click and save picture
or you can zip the files up and put a link to the zip file - which should then offer the viewer the chance to download or open.

not sure about the text bit - but again - this can be in word or pdf formay and downloaded from a link.

hundreds mode available if you search on google

so once you have the site built and working on your PC - you now need to load it onto a system thats connected to the interent & provides web space - to transfer the files to the webspace you ften use FTP.

you may already have webspace as part of the deal your ISP suplies - most of the isp's in UK offer space, something like - although the space changes, so may not be accurate -
NTL 50MB - I have set up 2 websites for my next door neighbour on NTL
UKONLINE 100MB - I no wcorrect - i'm moving to them thursday
AOL - 100MB - not sure of exact amount
tiscali - 100MB - Know they do provide space - looking into, as i'm developing a site for a user here

what country are you in

I am in the US. I stumbled across Web Spawner, would this be ok? It looks as if you type the material into a box and it takes it from there. How would a person make something download from there? As for the text bit, it would only be about three pages. Do I understand pdf, that you need adobe to read it?

sorry i know little of the us market - certainly could make pages from this site - also not sure where they make there money from, by hosting these sites - maybe adverts

dont know how you would get the files copied onto the site to be able to offer the download facility. you need ftp access to copy files onto your webspace that yuo can then supply a link to be downloaded
