Conflict in bandwith vs. site traffic
My web site traffic has fallen off according to the following data taken from Analog reports. However, according to the host provider's bandwidth usage report, my bandwith has gone up. Can anyone please explain to me what is going on? Why does bandwidth trend up when Analog traffic reports show page requests declining? What is even more troubling is the page requests always trend up and recently page requests have trended down. However, using Webalizer, page requests have trended up when Analog shows page requests trending down. Any help would be appreciated. (I have requested help from the host provider but all I get is a non-answer if you know what I mean.) The ZZZZ line acts as a separator.

SOme reporting services report incorrectly and some only report visitors one way. You need to look at UNIQUE visitors to your web site. These are visitors that have never visited your site before which is what the first report you mentioned seems to be doing. If you want to look at total visitors the bandwidth number would be similar to the total number that visited.

Does Webalizer give only uniques and Analog give all hits irregardless of whether the visitor has visited before? If a user's ISP number changes, does this count as a unique every time a user comes back to a site? In other words, does the changing ISP of a user invalidate the counting of the user as a unique when in fact the user has been to the site before? Does anyone have any definite answers on any of this?
