Configuring Server
Yupp, I finally got my own server..no more Comcast for me. OK, now, here's my question. I plan to have my own WAP site (mobile phone site). I want to offer custom made Samsung Ringtone files (.mmf format) How would I configure the server so that my phone can download the file? I get all type of crazy messages, "Forbidden" "Unsupported Message Format" "Server Error" "Badd Gateway" GOD, its so annoying. The most recent message is "Forbidden, so I hope that by trying a different file, I'll get better results. But any help from you guys is appreciated.

Yupp, that really narrows it down. What type of server are you running? Who is your ISP, they may not let you run a server from your account. Details do matter.

You are running it over their network connection so it does matter. Read their TOS before you set it up or you may be out Internet service altogether.

HOld on, I don't get it. Why would I read Comcast's TOS? All I need to know is how to configure my mesopia server to accept the mmf file type and allow my phone to d/l it.

Because, it is not your netowrk connection, it is Comcast's. Anyway, you need to configure your server for the correct MIME file type. Edit the .htaccess file and add this

AddType application/x-smaf .mmf

WHen they shut you down don't say I didn't tell you so.

I have no clue how to edit .htacess But, in Cpanel it give you a way to add MIME-types. If I were going to use Cpanel, could you tell me how to do it from there.

EDIT: I just re-read your post, I am NOT running a webserver from my account. Heavens no, because that IS against Comcast's TOS. My web hosting provider is mesopia.com
