Question new website :)
i use to have a basic website a couple of years ago setup as part of a free email account. i made it doing very basic html coding, which i have mostly forgotten and which i never fully learnt to begin with. im now thinking of hosting my own website again from my isp. since i know next to nothing about html, what would be a good program to use to build a website. i dont want anything fansy. i have used netscapes and mozillas composer program but never found that they could do the things i wanted them too. and i have never been a fan of anglefire or other do it urself website builder sites. thanx

I use Microsoft FrontPage and Dreamweaver. I'm sure there are other programs out there though. Those are just my two favorite.

bigavvystyle, You said you did some coding yourself at one point. Why not try again? Here is a list, updated of all the tutorials for html:

So, let me give you a list of my tutorials and a place to take classes for free (besides learning here).

Tutorials for html:

http://www.flamingtext.com/

http://www.hotscripts.com/ (for almost any code)

http://www.asp.net/Default.aspx?tabindex=0&tabid=1

This is a very good site for almost anything about web
and web devlopement, including the free classes:

Color sites:

http://www.bagism.com/colormaker/

http://www.colormix.com/

http://<b>http://webdesign.about.com...indows.htm</b>

http://www.yvg.com/twrs/RGBConverter.html

http://www.geocities.com/t_geetha2000/colors.html

http://webmonkey.wired.com/webmonke...ce/color_codes/

Two EXCELLENT programs to download for color are Pixie
and colorbox:

Pixie: http://www.nattyware.com/?m31

Colorbox: www.kobayashi.com

As far as using these programs, I've used most of them at one point or another. They all have good points. But the best ones I have bolded. .

That should get you started and any questions you have just let us know, I know *I'll* be more than glad to help. Liz

There are alot of websites that offer free tutorials in both html and graphics work.
I may not be so good with coding, but i am fairly good with graphics.
Just google around and try to find some tutorials (www.good-tutorials.com offers over 2000 photoshop tutorials). Or you can do as i started out after trying out some tutorials that worked good.
I went around the net finding some template sites. I tried to recreate them almost exactly, then gave them my own twist.
I kept doing it for some time, until my first website around a year ago.

All you have to do basicly is just look around for people who can help you learn, sites that help you learn yourself and just experiment. That's it.

I'd suggest a powerful, yet free html editor called WebDwarf . You can then use the built in FTP option to load it to your ISP's server.

Wow SouthernLady, nice list there. I'll have to check those all out, maybe boost my skills some. I'm working on an NFL website, new skills could come in handy, and I'm sure those will help bigavvystyle a lot.

http://<b>http://webdesign.about.co...l_begin.htm</b>

Can you please edit that so it works? Your bold symbols didnt work, and the link doesn't work.

Actually now then I look through these, several links are being impeded by the bold. Check em out for me, I'd really like to check these sites out.
