problem with response.redirect in ASP
Hi all

I have on my site a password protected folder, when i'm accessing the folder on a browser with the address:
http://user_name:Password@www.mydomain.com/folder/ then it's working fine, but when i'm puting the exact same address (including the user name and password) like this:

Response.Redirect("http://user_name:Password@www.mydomain.com/folder/");
then it dosen't work, the browser opens a dialog box and dosen't enter the page automatically (and that's what i want)...

Maybe someone knows why is that happaning? or maybe you guys have a solution..? thanks anyway

hmmm the asp page only contains that one response command, anyway i found out that response.redirect can't carry pass and usernames on Internet Explorer, i'll think on a way to go around this problem.......maybe using java script's location.href??? anyway thanks

What you are describing is an FTP session to a web site not an HTTP. YOu cannot redirect to an FTP session.

I don't think it will ever work outside of user intervention required and I would only think it would ever work in IE. Seems like a security issue. Does a second login dialog come up like a Windows login dialog?
