Streaming Audio
Anyone know how to set-up a streaming audio system? I'd like to be able to send audio out from a telephone - live - through a server and then where folks on the net can log-in and listen - live -

Sound confusing?

dunno about the streaming from a phone part. but mp3 radio stations are extremely easy to set up. why would you want to stream from a phone? wouldn't a conference call phone be able to get this task done?

mrdobalina how would you go about streaming mp3's live?

Do you have any links to any reference sites with details about setting up an mp3 radio station?

Thanks in advance,

EF

the one i used back in the day was, www.shoutcast.com there are others, but this one seems to be the simplest. read the documentation, and download the correct files.

In order to begin streaming, you need to have a machine you can dedicate to the playing of music and a music library. You can use Shoutcast, Live 365, etc. Live365 is a pay site but it is top notch and highly recommended. Shoutcast is free and there are many streaming stations, it takes a little more effort to setup but it is just as good. It also has a forum that explains step-by-step on setting up the Shoutcast DSP and so forth. You can also download the Windows Media Encoder and stream this way.

If you do a search on google, you should find a wealth of information. There are many sites that explain how to begin streaming, different software you can use for streaming (like SimpleCast from spacialaudio.com), differen software you can use for playing music (WinAmp, NexGen101, Windows Media Player), and so forth.
