Creating a secure site
Hi,

I've a few sites running at the moment, creating a few years now.

I've been turning down a lot of work for secured sites where online purchases can be made, My assumption being it's a encryption situation that I'd be unable to produce...

Is there an easy yet effective way to create such an area on a site of mine for credit card transactions for goods sold?

Thanks in Advance

I believe it is more of a function of your host site as to whether or not they support secure encryption. Many hosts will.

Shopping Cart Software

A software program which acts as a "virtual store front". Such software typically allows a web site user to create and manage a virtual shopping cart to which items can be added or removed. Once a customer is ready to "check out", this same Shopping Cart Software typically includes interfaces to allow customers to pay with their credit card directly on the site. Shopping Cart Software is critical for those web sites that intend to sell products and services directly over the Internet without human intervention.

All you need to do is register for an SSL certificate. Most hosts will allow you to use them, some charge a small fee for setting it up.

I've done a little research, but I'm still a little unsure - Aside for the server-side needing security and having a SSL cert, Is there much in designing it?! I'm using Dreamweaver MX

Doesn't have anything to do with the shop end, installing SSL will encrypt anything sent over HTTP.
