Cool front page question - can't seem to figure it out
hey all - okay, perhaps a stupid question (go ahead, I can take it)...I am trying to find the coding necessary to allow browsers for any of my sites to have one of those tiny icons to the left of the site name, for example, in FAVORITES (IE or Firefox). You know, like you might find on CNN for example. Anyone? Anyone? Hep, Cecil, hep......

Actually, that's not coding but uploading tiny .ico and your server might not allow those. I know mine doesn't All it takes is a special graphics editor (which you can find for free and given a few mins, I can dig that info up) and you are in business. Liz

Okay, I found them...had to dig them out of my downloaded files But I had the information.
Randy's Icon Editor
Jeff's Icons
The second one also gives you a very GOOD tutorial on how to change your icons and folders altho I've never tried changing the folders anywhere on my hard drives. Liz

All you need is an image formatted at 16x16 pixels and name the file favicon.jpg ot whatever and rename the extension to .ico
Upload the ico file to the root of your web site and that's it.

You don't need any special icon editor to do it.

hrm, doesnt work for me.

i used PaintShop9 to make the .bmp imported it into Randy's Icon Editor made it transparent.

The server im on doesn't support it? or is there a set size it HAS to be? cause the icon editor goes 32x32, and i just transparent it back to 16x16
